Obituary of Hilda Beatrice McEwen

Our dear Auntie Hilda passed away peacefully at the Southwood Care Centre on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the age of 96 years. Hilda was born on June 7, 1911 at Carlstadt, AB and spent her childhood in Medicine Hat, AB. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 1932 and had a fulfilling career as a Clinical Dietician. Hilda was a founding member of the Alberta Branch of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, a member of the Registered Dieticians Association, the Knox United Church and the Calgary Golf and Country Club. Hilda was a generous and loving lady, a good friend and confidant. We will miss her feisty nature and her sharp intellect. Hilda is survived and will be missed by her sister Dorothy (the Late: Gordon) Black; nieces Barbara (Bryan) Huston, Margaret (Roy) Nelson; and nephews Kenneth (Bonny) Black and Robert Black and their families. Hilda was predeceased by her parents Sydney and Amy (nee Powell) McEwen and her dearest friend Gweyn King. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
