Obituary of Evelyn Reader

Evelyn Reader of Calgary passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the age of 91 years. Born on July 29, 1916 in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (now Cumbria), England, Evelyn was the second daughter of Joseph and Grace Cook; the last survivor of seven siblings. She served in the Women’s Land Army during World War II. In 1955 she immigrated to Canada to marry her beloved Frederick. Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Sheila; her grandchildren Heather, Owen and Andrew; and her nieces and nephews in the Vancouver area and in England. Evelyn established life-long friendships and will be sorely missed by those at the Staywell Manor at Garrison Woods as well as others in Burnaby, Vancouver, Whiterock, Chilliwack, Victoria; and many other places in British Columbia and England. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Reader in 2001. A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
