Obituary of John Dixon
John Noel Dixon, beloved husband of Jean Dixon of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 8, 2007 at the age of 82 years.
John was born on December 24, 1924 in Durham England. He immigrated to Canada in 1928 with his family and settled in Okotoks. John attended school in Okotoks and was an avid hockey player. He joined the Calgary Highlanders Reserve and when he was 18 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served for two and a half years on the high seas. Upon his discharge, John attended the University of Alberta graduating with his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1950. In 1951, he joined Suncor Inc. where John worked for thirty-six years. John married Jean Colquhoun in Calgary in 1954.
Besides his loving wife Jean, John is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law Monica and Brian Zacher of Sugar Land, TX, by his son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Patrice Dixon of North Vancouver, BC, and by his three grandchildren, Ryan (Christie) Zacher, Bart Zacher and Luc Dixon. John is also survived by his two sisters, Phoebe Powys-Lybbe and Mary Galbraith, both of Calgary; by his brother and sister-in-law George and Margaret Dixon of Calgary; and by his two sisters-in-law Marguerite Dixon of Calgary and Charlotte Dixon of Pincher Creek. He was predeceased by his son Robert John in 1998, sister Margaret MacNeill and by his two brothers, Art Dixon and Sam Dixon.
