Obituary of John Edward Tomlinson
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John (Jack) Edward Tomlinson on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the Sarcee Hospice, at the age of 75 years.
Born in Edmonton, AB on August 13, 1932, Jack was raised in Lac du Bonnet, MB. After he graduated high school, he started his career as an aircraft maintenance engineer. This career lasted an amazing fifty-seven years and took him to places such as Inuvik, NWT all the way to Zaire, Africa. He spent twenty-five years with Chevron Canada Resources and retired in 1991. Jack’s greatest joy was the birth of his granddaughter Keely, with whom he enjoyed an especially close relationship. One of his biggest accomplishments was the celebration this past March of his fifteenth year of sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous.
Jack is deeply loved and missed by his daughter and son-in-law Sally and Derek; his son Jim; his granddaughter Keely; his brother and sister-in-law Sam and Ann of Nepean, ON; his two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bea May of Penticton, BC and Marjorie-Anne Jarrett and Jay of Hagerstown, Indiana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Sammy in 1973 and Lily in 1985.
To honour Jack’s wishes, no service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Recovery Acres Society, 1835 – 27 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2T 1H2. Our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all the staff at the Sarcee Hospice for providing dignity and comfort to Jack in his final days.
