Obituary of Ann Marker

It is with joy that we celebrate and honour the life of Ann Mary Marker and the knowledge that she now dwells in her long awaited Heavenly home; yet in our hearts we deeply miss her already. Ann Marker, beloved sister, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the age of 91 years. Ann was born on July 20, 1916 in Edmonton, AB. She was raised in Clyde, AB where her father was the village blacksmith. She later lived in Westlock and then moved to Edmonton where she met and married her deepest love Valdemar Marker. Together they brought into the world five daughters. Ann was a woman of great courage and determination, who faced many difficult times yet always found the strength to carry on. Ann’s life was marked by great generosity, always thinking of her family and her friends more highly than herself. Our Ann was a loyal and dedicated mother, and a grandmother extraordinaire. Always full of love, life and vibrancy – she cared deeply for her children and grandchildren. By all counts the best cook and baker we have known. Her table always filled with food and her home with the aroma of her delicious baking. Ann was a gifted seamstress who hand made clothing and crocheted countless blankets for her family and friends. In Ann’s later years, she retained her feisty nature and her wonderful sense of humour and laughter. The most sincere person we have known, Ann always meant the words she said and lived her faith out with this same precious sincerity. Ann relied on the Lord for her life and has long awaited the day when she would finally go to her true home and be united with the Lord and reunited with her dearest husband Val and daughter Dawn. Ann’s life was a gift to all of us and we will hold our beautiful memories of her close in our minds and hearts. With all our hearts our dear Mother and Grandma Ann we love you and will wait to one day see your beautiful smile and shining blue eyes once again. Ann was predeceased by her cherished husband Val in 1959; and her daughter Dawn Elizabeth in 1963. Ann is survived by her four daughters, MaryAnn (Max) Nock, Valerie Marker, Joyce McIntosh, and Janice (Cal) Goldberg. Ann has seven grandchildren, Joel, Ellice and Samuel Goldberg, Sebastian Nock, Stuart and Graham McIntosh, and Skye Marker; and her sister Agnes. Ann was predeceased by her parents Annie and John Cuthiell; sister Janet; brother John (Jack); and sister Margaret. “The evening time of life falls gently like the setting sun-Work on earth has ended, a well-earned rest is won.” Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
