Obituary of Dorothy Pearl Cadman

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Pearl Cadman announces her passing on Friday, September 21, 2007 at the age of 99 years. Dorothy was born on November 13, 1907 in Lethbridge, AB. She was the second of eight children born to George and Martha Taylor. Dorothy spent most of her growing up years in Wetaskiwin and Edmonton and that is where she met our Dad. On December 17, 1929, they married in Calgary and spent the next seventy-three years together until his passing in 2003. They are now together again. Dorothy was a member of the United Church of Canada and attended St. Paul’s United Church for many years, enjoying much fun and fellowship in the United Church Women’s Group. She will be lovingly remembered by both friends and family as a wise, patient and understanding person who always listened to what you had to say. She didn’t always agree of course, and would speak her mind. Although sometimes stern she was never unforgiving. Dorothy was a proud and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who nurtured not only her family but her home and garden as well. She had a great sense of humour and had a wonderful way with words – often quoting some bit of poetry or literature that she had tucked away in the back of her amazing mind. Always ready to throw an extra cup of water in the soup pot, unexpected guests were readily made to feel welcome. She will be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Marlyn Cadman, Donald and Anita Cadman, David and Eleanor Cadman and Stanley Cadman; by her daughters and son-in-law, Elaine and George Humphrey and Patricia Cadman; by two brothers, Leslie Taylor of Victoria, BC and Jack Taylor of Nanaimo, BC. She will be lovingly remembered by sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren (with one more on the way), five great-great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews, throughout Western Canada. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Urban in May of 2003, two sisters Ruby and Marjory and by her three brothers Everard, Raymond and Clarence. Funeral Services will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m with the Rev. Ed Lewis, Presider. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to thank the many truly wonderful and loving caregivers at Wentworth Manor where Dorothy lived for the past six years and we will be forever grateful to each and every one of them for their expert care and warm affection.
