Obituary of Iolanda Mattucci

Iolanda Mattucci, beloved wife of Domenico Mattucci of Calgary, passed away on September 20, 2007 at the age of 76 years. Iolanda was born on March 2, 1931 in Rocca, San Giovanni, Chieti, Italy. She spent her youth in Italy until 1951, where she married the love of her life, Domenic on April 15. Iolanda moved to Canada in 1953 alongside Domenic where she raised her two children. She worked for twenty-five years at the Eaton’s Cafeteria downtown in Calgary. Over the years of her career she met many wonderful friends. Her passion for cooking was always shown by the amount of food that was left after each meal. She also achieved perfection in decorating her baked goods, which was her speciality. The love that Iolanda showed towards her family was never ending. She would go out of her way to open a door for a family member or friend, always being certain that no one would leave her home hungry. Iolanda enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly. Besides her loving husband, Domenic, Iolanda is survived by Dina and Vito Mancini, Mary and Colin Sartoris all of Calgary; her five grandchildren “I nipoti E Tutto iL Mondo PER Me” Matthew (Fiancée Lisa Foreman), Adam (Girlfriend Shawna), Anthony (Girlfriend Tracy), Jenna (Boyfriend Adam) and Nicki all of Calgary; she is also survived by her sister Teresa (Camillo) D’Amario of Italy as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins of Canada and Italy. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and tributes at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
