Obituary of Mildred Anna Bell Kortmeyer

Mildred Anna Bell Kortmeyer, of Black Diamond, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the age of 101 years. Mildred was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA on May 23, 1906. In 1917 her family moved to Canada and settled in Cluny, Alberta. In 1929 she married Fred Kortmeyer and lived in Black Diamond until 1958 when they retired to Sidney, British Columbia. After Fred’s passing in 1980 Mildred returned to Black Diamond to be close to her brother and sister. Mildred lived at the High Country Lodge from 1980-2001 and then moved to a long term care home in Claresholm and nine months later returned to Black Diamond Long Term Care. Mildred enjoyed spending time with the Valley Neighbours Club and at the Griffith Memorial Centre. She was an active member of the United Church and loved to play card, especially bridge. Mildred is survived by her sister Edith Des Jardin of Brampton, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred; four brother and two sisters.
