Obituary of Robert Kinnie

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – Ephesians 2:8 Robert (Bob) Kinnie, cherished husband of Sandi Kinnie of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the age of 67 years. Bob was born in Vancouver, BC. He moved to the prairies after high school where he attended Canadian Bible College. Bob started his career with Safeway while attending high school. Passionate in every aspect of his life, he progressed from stock boy to CEO with Safeway. Bob lived life to the fullest and had a contagious laugh that drew people to him. Though he had a successful business career, his real devotion in life was Jesus, his family, and relationships with others. Bob’s mentoring heart left a lasting legacy in the lives of many. Next to God, his greatest love and faithfulness was to his wife Sandi. Their marriage union was very important to him as he and Sandi shared forty-two years together. Bob was extremely proud of his four children, their spouses and his grandchildren. Family gatherings were one of his greatest sources of joy. Grandpa always had an open knee, hug and word of encouragement for his grandchildren. Church was a huge part of Bob’s life; if there was a need he was there. He was committed to and passionate about the ministries of his local church; serving faithfully as a leader, a teacher, and a mentor. His passion to serve was motivated by his love for and his relationship with Jesus Christ. His life was defined by the grace of God. Besides his loving wife, Sandi, Bob is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Susan and their children Nicholas, Nathan and Samuel of Calgary, AB; Brad and Lydia and their children Cailyn and Ethan of Vancouver, BC; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathi and Stan Wiens and their children Bobby, Derek and Emily; and Brenda and Jaret Giroux and their children Bryanne, Chloe, Elissa and Kylie all of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his mother Ethel Kinnie; two brothers and sisters-in-law Don and Veldene, Phil and Susan; two sisters and a brother-in-law Barbara Reid, Kathy and Larry Gerber; and many other family members and friends. Bob was predeceased by his father Harry and his brother-in-law Tony Reid.
