Obituary of Robert George Lill

Bob, beloved husband of Mary, passed away peacefully on a beautiful sunny day on Sunday, September 16, 2007 surrounded by his family in Calgary, AB at the age of 89 years. Bob was born in Toronto, ON and was raised in Belleville, ON and Corbyville, ON. He graduated with a BSc in geology from Queen’s University in 1940. In addition to being a devoted husband, he was a father extraordinaire to his four children, and the world’s best Grandpa. Bob, a professional engineer, had a long and distinguished career as a petroleum geologist and executive, pursuing his profession in the Caribbean and South America as well as in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Bob, a true gentleman with a resolute hold on a fine set of values, loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid golfer, skier, sailor and sportsman who enjoyed a wonderful retirement including many years in Rio Verde, AZ. Bob will be celebrated and remembered for his astute observations, business acumen and a tremendous sense of humour. He will definitely be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him. Besides his soulmate of sixty-one years, Mary, Bob is survived by his four children, Marilyn (Len Hendrickson), John (Phyllis), David (Colleen) and Steven (Esther); and his ten grandchildren, Rob, Christie (Cory), Tom (Kristy), Mary-Catherine, James (Jen), Marilyn, Geoff, Caroline, Brady and Matthew. He was predeceased by his parents John William and Christian Mitchell Lill; and his brothers Jack (Mary) and Ted (Peggy). A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
