Obituary of James S.S. Rayment
Jim Rayment, beloved husband of Kay Rayment of Calgary, passed away with spirit surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the age of 76 years. Jim faced his two-year battle with cancer with great determination, smiles, humour and dignity.
Jim will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend of forty-three years Kay (nee Campbell); his children, Carole Groot, Bill Rayment, Joanne (Pete) Bosgra and Ross (Stacey) Rayment. Jim leaves behind a legacy of laughter and celebration for his eight grandchildren, Carly and Nathan Groot, Heather (Andy) Row, Stephanie and Kimberly Bosgra and Alexandra, Thomas and Daniel Rayment. He will also be remembered by his sister Mary (John) Thompson-Bokstein; brother Bob Rayment; sister-in-law Jan Rayment-Bauerfind; and an extended family of many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim touched many lives near and far through business and friendship and will be remembered for his wonderful laugh and love of sharing a good story.
Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Home Care team of doctors and nurses as well as the entire staff and volunteers of the Agape Hospice. Jim and his family will forever remember the warm and compassionate care extended by all. The Agape Hospice truly became a home for us among a community of families, residents and staff who shared stories, laughs, tears and late night snacks. To our family and friends, we thank you for all your gestures of support great and small; we felt your presence and thoughts in our hearts this summer. Many thanks to everyone who has already donated to the memorial fund started in July by Jim’s ten year old grandson Thomas in support of the Agape Hospice. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Agapé Hospice, 1302 – 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1B8 Telephone: (403) 282-6588.
We would like to invite friends and family to a Memorial Service at the Glenmore Inn (2720 Glenmore Trail SE) on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. It was Jim’s wish that we would all gather to celebrate. It is with love and thanks in our hearts that we will gather to commemorate his life well-lived. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
