Obituary of Alexander Weir

Alexander Weir, beloved husband of Thelma of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2007, the eve of his 87th birthday following a brief illness. Alex developed an exemplary business career during his forty-seven years with Woodward Stores, retiring in 1982. He and Thelma enjoyed twenty-five years of retirement together. Alex will be fondly remembered for his devotion to gardening, nurturing the birds that regularly visited his yard and for his love of nature, especially the magnificent Rocky Mountains. He will also be remembered for his loyalty, his quiet wisdom, his dedicated energy for life and his devotion to his family. Besides his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Thelma, Alex is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Arnold Maki; his son and daughter-in-law Paul and Val Weir; his grandchildren Anita (David) LaHay, Adam Maki, Amanda Maki, Brianna and Lyndsay Weir; his great-grandchild Alan LaHay; and his daughter-in-law Kathi Weir.
