Obituary of Catherine Kay Pidgeon

Kay Pidgeon of Sicamous, BC passed away peacefully in Calgary on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Kay was born in Shoal Lake, MB on December 27, 1917 and moved to Winnipeg as a young girl. She graduated with a BA from United College in 1939 and it was there that she met her husband Ken. They were both members of the varsity basketball teams. Kay and Ken married in 1940 and lived in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary before retiring to their beloved Sicamous in 1974 where they shared their enjoyment of the lake and outdoors. Kay loved sports, golf, swimming, tennis, basketball, skiing and yoga. She also enjoyed her daily walks to town, her garden, her music and especially her family who were frequent visitors. Kay had a passion for life and all it had to offer. She was an inspiration to many. Kay will be sadly missed by her beloved children, daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Henry Engels and son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Judy Pidgeon; grandchildren, Sean (Jesse), Simon, Ashleigh, Paul (Lua) Engels, Julia (Jeff) Lawrick and great grandson Stryder David. She was predeceased by her husband Ken (1990) and son David (2001). Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Kay’s favourite charity, The ALS Society of BC (Suite 208, 1600 W 6 Ave, Vancouver BC.
