Obituary of Calvin Donald Parr

Calvin (Cal) Donald Parr, beloved husband of Betty Parr of DeWinton, passed away suddenly at his acreage on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the age of 62 years. Cal was born on September 21, 1944 and was raised in Invermay and Quill Lake, SK where he was an avid hockey and baseball player. He began his teaching career in Lanigan, SK at the age of 20 and later moved to Alberta where he spent thirty years teaching – the last eighteen of which were at Midnapore Elementary School. Upon his retirement in 1998, he enjoyed operating his tree farm in DeWinton. Besides his loving wife Betty, Cal is survived by three children and their spouses, Mark and Danielle Parr of Toronto, Chad Parr of Calgary and Carena and Jeremy Dean of Canmore. He is also survived by his siblings, Arnold Parr of Christchurch, New Zealand, Lorraine and Maurice VanDenBossche of Saskatoon, SK, Glenn Parr of Theodore, SK, Marlene Pawluk of Quill Lake, SK, Marvin Parr of Mazatlan, Mexico, Jenine and Wayne Morrissey of Carberry, MB; mother-in-law Margaret Selland; brother-in-law Roy and Janice Selland, all of Melville, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Lillian Parr; nephew Richard Parr; and father-in-law Eddy Selland. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. A Private Family Graveside Service to follow at Pine Creek Cemetery.
