Obituary of Edna Picco

Edna Picco of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the age of 79 years. Edna was born in Yorkton, SK and received her education at the Yorkton Collegiate High School. She moved to Calgary in the early 50’s and- worked at the Bank of Montreal. She met George, her future husband at choir practice at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where they would both become life long parishioners. George and Edna married in 1952 and lived in Riverside for one year before moving into their new house in Renfrew where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Woman’s League and Esso Annuitant Wine Club. Edna lived a very active life and traveling was one of her biggest passions. Two of her greatest moments were riding a camel in the Mongolian Desert and seeing the Great Wall of China. Her best vacation was a two month trip by train and buses through South America in 1980 with her husband and especially her annual trips to Mexico and Italy. She also loved to create fabulous dinner parties. Edna loved music, especially opera and latin and loved to dance. She was also an ardent hiker for over fifteen years and had two green thumbs for gardening. Edna’s greatest weaknesses were chocolate, a great glass of shiraz and Italian cuisine. Her funniest moment was suddenly realizing she was really a Conservative after being a staunch Liberal for over fifty years!
