Obituary of Claire Therese Calder

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother at the age of 83 years on Friday, August 17, 2007. Claire was born in St. Jean, MB and resided in Pine Falls, MB for most of her life. During the war, she served as a driver in the CWAC, in Calgary. With her husband, Wilbert Calder, she raised her two children in Pine Falls, where she had a fulfilling career at the Hudson’s Bay Company for more than twenty-five years. After the loss of her husband, she moved to Airdrie, AB, in order to be closer to family where she also took great delight in singing in the choir at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and expressed herself artistically by creating beautiful paper tole pictures for those she loved. In her last years, she resided at Fletcher Village, where her sense for humour will be greatly missed by her many friends there. Claire was well loved by all who knew her, as she was so kind and generous. She will be sadly missed by all of those whose lives she touched dearly. Claire is survived by her son Dennis (Annette) and daughter Marilyn (Marty). Her two surviving grandchildren, Bradley and Vanessa, meant the world to her. She is also survived by her brother Leo and four sisters, Simone, Lucette, Dolores, and Yvette, as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Claire was predeceased by her husband Wilbert; her mother Olivine; her father Achille; her three brothers Emilien, Louis and Sylvio; and three sisters, Jean, Vivianne, and Blanche. Funeral Mass and reception will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie, AB) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
