Obituary of Richard William- Scott

Richard (Dick) William Scott, of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Dick was born June 15, 1923 in Calgary and attended school at Lacombe Home and various other schools including St. Angela’s in Calgary, Viking, Alberta and Beaumont, Alberta. He joined the military and served with the South Alberta Regiment and transferred to the Lord Strathmore Regiment and Royal Canadian Service Corps. Dick served overseas from 1943 to 1945. He took cooking courses and later worked as a cook in Resolute Bay and Tuktayuktuk. Dick is survived by his sister Pearl Steffler, of Olds; nieces, Elizabeth Harrison (Harvey Lindsay), of Didsbury, Linda (Ken) Newsome, of Carstairs, Joan (Wayne) Dittrick of Sherwood Park, and Yvonne (Wesley) Proctor of Olds. He is also survived by Stephen Nott of Innisfree and Murray Harrison of Smokey Lake, Elsie Scollen, of Calgary, Sharon Stoelzle, of Onoway, and Darrel Scollen, of Calgary, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Dick was predeceased by his brothers William and Thomas Scollen; brother-in-law Louis Steffler; niece Mary Angeline Nott; and nephews Kevin and Martin Steffler. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Airdrie Chapel (300 Towerlane Drive) on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St Agnes Catholic Church (302 11th Ave S) Carstairs, Alberta on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Carstairs Cemetery.
