Obituary of Ronald George Schofield

Ronald George (Ron) Schofield beloved husband of Gretchen Schofield of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the age of 75 years. Ron was born on October 7, 1931 in Calgary and attended High School at St. Joseph’s in Edmonton. He attended the University of North Dakota graduating in 1958 with a degree in Geological Engineering. On September 15, 1958 Ron and Gretchen were married in Grand Forks, ND and shortly after began their new life together in Calgary. Ron was employed with AMOCO and Bass Explorations for eleven years before forming his own company, Sombrero Oil and Gas Ltd. in 1970. He was a member of APEGGA and the CSPG. Ron’s biggest passion was his cabin on Windermere Lake, BC where he spent many summers vacationing with his family. Besides his loving wife Gretchen, Ron is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Mark Schofield and Tina Grasdal of Seattle, WA; by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Tim Veilleux of Calgary, AB and Katherine Schofield and Dale Mork of Scottsdale, AZ; by his four grandchildren, Aimeé and Justin Veilleux of Calgary and Austin and Andrew Mork of Scottsdale, AZ. Ron will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Marianne Schofield of Priddis, AB; Jim and Colleen Schofield of Jackson’s Point, ON and by his sister Jerri Schofield of Healdsburg, CA.
