Obituary
Obituary of Beverley May Leggett
At the age of 39 Bev has succumbed to cancer, quietly passing away surrounded by loved ones.
She leaves behind her husband Humphrey Shupenia; her mother Florence Leggett; her brother and his wife Dennis and Kristi Leggett; nephews Evan and Carson Leggett and goddaughter Brianna Borgen. Bev was predeceased by her father Bernard Leggett in 1994. Bev will be missed by many uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, friends and co-workers.
Bev grew up on a farm just outside Wainwright, Alberta, the first born of two children to Florence and Bernard Leggett. During her youth Bev was very active in the 4H Club excelling in leadership and public speaking. While the farm remained in her soul, she moved to Edmonton and attended NAIT where she earned a honours degree in Finance and was accredited with a Certified Management Accountant designation after several more years of hard study. In 1993 Bev relocated to Calgary with her husband Humphrey and embarked on a rising career in the petroleum industry. Her career capped off as a Collaboration Manager with TransCanada. Bev immensely enjoyed her professional life, but kept a great balance between her career, family and friends, finding time for all three. Bev proudly graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from the Athabasca University in the year 2000. In her spare time Bev contributed to the community by volunteering as a treasurer for the Historical Society of Alberta, past treasurer for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation and was a major fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Ride for Heart event each year. Bev was an avid golfer at the Cottonwood Golf Club, rode her bike daily to work, played on a slo-pitch team and curled three times a week. Bev will be sorely missed for her beautiful smile, warm and open heart and her dedication to family, friends and career.
