Obituary of Margaret King

Margaret Elizabeth King of Airdrie passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the age of 67 years. Margaret was born and raised in Calgary, graduating from Western Canada High. She married David King of Madden at the United Church in 1962. They resided and farmed in the Madden district until 1983 when they moved to Crossfield. Margaret was an active member of the Madden Ladies Community Club and also the Madden and Crossfield United Churches. Margaret continued her active community involvement by serving on town Council and was past Honored Royal Lady of the Royal Purple as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She had many pastimes which included golfing and traveling, especially trips with her sister Kay throughout Canada, and many other destinations. Most of all, Margaret cherished the time she could be with her children and grandchildren and her favorite canine companion Max. She loved her new home and new found friends in Airdrie and found a new role in her “retirement” years. Margaret is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Richard Radu of Lacombe, AB and Linda and Glen Croteau of Crossfield, AB; grandchildren, Lara and Stephen Radu and Alexander and Erin Croteau. She is also survived by her sister Kay Matthews of Calgary; sister-in-law Reita (Murray) Hurt of Crossfield; brother-in-law Neil (Darlene) King of Prince George, BC as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband David; her brother Reginald; parents Dolly and Jack MacLeod and infant grandson Adam Croteau. Funeral Services will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #288 (508 – 3rd Ave. S.E.) Airdrie, AB on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to the Doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for the compassionate care given to Margaret.
