Obituary of June Marie Nickel

June Nickel, beloved wife of Lorence Nickel of Calgary, passed away on August 2, 2007, after a brief battle with cancer, at the age of 77 years. June was born in Calgary on August 12, 1929 and was very proud to have lived most of her life in Calgary. She attended Henderson’s School of Business and worked as a library clerk with the Calgary Board of Education until her retirement. June had many hours of enjoyment in her bowling league where she met many wonderful friends. She also loved to travel and had fond memories of trips to Maui and many family trips to Las Vegas. Besides her loving husband of fifty-eight years, June is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Kerry Barnett; her son and daughter-in-law Bob and Kathy; her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Arlis Rackham; her sister and brother-in-law Pat and Keith Coskey; her sister-in-law Barb Rackham; and her brother-in-law Clarence Nickel (Kathaleen). “Grandma June” will also be greatly missed by her granddaughters, Gillian, Carly, and Robyn Barnett; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. June was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Mary Rackham; and her brother Doug Rackham.
