Obituary of Alexander Breaker
Alexander Breaker passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, July 29, 2007 in Calgary after succumbing to medical complications.
Alex?s family were members of the Sa-yiks Clan (Daring Leaders), a group that originated from the North West region of Siksika. As a result of his parents? strong belief and practice in the traditional Siksika way of life, Alex was brought up to understand and respect the teachings and values of the old ways. He had a very quiet, kind, and gentle nature about him. He was also a very caring and humble person who enjoyed doing his artwork, as well as attending Pow-Wow and rodeo events.
Alex is survived by his wife Mary (Sweetgrass) Breaker and two brothers Robert Sr. (Rosalyn) and Tim Breaker. He also leaves behind four stepchildren, Marlene, Darren, Rosemarie, and Chrissy; nieces and nephews from the Breaker-Stevens clan; Darrell, Donna, Robert Jr., Stewart, Ian, Hester, Darcie, Merlin, and Rudy Breaker; Jackie, Frank, and Wallace Stevens; Shirley Ayoungman, Zena Calf Robe, and Arleen Black Kettle; numerous great nieces and nephews. Alex also leaves the following extended family relatives, namely Maguire, Black, Brass, Stimson, Raw Eaters, Foxs, Many Shots, Turning Robes, BackFats, Bear Shirts, McMasters, Yellow Old Womans, Calf Childs, Many Heads, Ayoungmans, Good Riders, Chief Bodys, Holy Singers, and Spotted Eagles. He was predeceased by his parents Harry (1979) and Sarah (1984), sister Irene Stevens (1993), nephew Morris Breaker (1966) and niece Patricia (Vannie) McMaster (1992).
Wake Services will be held at the late Alex Breaker residence in North Camp (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Graveside to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB). The family wishes to acknowledge the Rocky View hospital ICU for their excellent medical care, compassion and support during this difficult time. The family apologizes if they have missed anyone.
