Obituary of Dorothy Reid
Dorothy Edna Reid, (nee Turner) of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the age of 93 years.
Dorothy is survived by her son David Reid of Calgary; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Wes) Schroeder, Karin (Dion) Schultz and Graham (Nadia) Reid, all of Calgary; six great-grandchildren, James, Ryan, Daria, Taylor, Natalie and Jared; brother-in-law Gordon Moore and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Reid on July 28, 1991; her daughter-in-law Barbara Reid and two brothers, Bill and Bob Turner.
Dorothy was born on June 28, 1914 in Calgary. Dorothy and Jack were married in 1938 and were together for fifty-three years. She had a secretarial career which included working for the Calgary Chamber of Commerce for many years. Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, camping, flowers and the ever present birds, and always had bird seed out for the birds at home. She lived in the Sunalta community her whole life until three and a half years ago when it was required that she move to a seniors residence. Dorothy enjoyed the company of family and friends for card games and loved preparing family roast beef dinners.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. A Family Graveside Service will follow in Queen’s Park Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff on Unit 72 at the Foothills Medical Centre.
