Obituary of Herbert Leslie May

Bert May passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the age of 98 years. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth in 1990. Bert is lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law Carole and Alan Slimmon; his son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Elaine May; grandchildren, Sharon Ham (Kevin), Jana Hands (Gordon), Lise and Paul May; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jana, Robyn, Graydon, Tanner and Taiya; and his special friend Patricia McNamara. For most of his working life Bert was employed with Canadian Pacific Railway in Revelstoke, British Columbia. At age fifty, he relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he held an elected position with the International Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He served as a Vice President with this organization until he retired in 1974. A year later, Bert and Ruth retired to Calgary. Bert was an active member of the Society of Free Masons for seventy years and in his retirement years his life revolved around his family, the Society of Free Masons, curling, golfing and the Southwood Seniors Club. A Celebration of Bert’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
