Obituary of Donald Lawrence McVean
McVEAN Donald
March 11, 1919 – July 18, 2007
Donald McVean, beloved husband of the late Patricia (Pat) McVean of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the age of 88 years.
Born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to Sarah and Nicol McVean, Don grew up in Sceptre, SK. Throughout his life he worked with the RCMP, a credit company, and his own home building and property management company. He also managed an advertising agency with his wife, Pat. Don and Pat enjoyed their retirement and each other by taking trips across Canada and the United States. During this time they enjoyed watching professional baseball’s spring training. Their adventures were usually punctuated with Don taking photographs and Pat recording their travels for the next visit down that road. For nine years after Pat’s passing in 1998, Don deeply missed his life-long companion in adventure and exploration. Don’s bright smile, his compassionate nature, and his frequent laughter are already sadly missed.
Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Sheridan and Judy McVean; his grandsons Kirk and Stephen McVean; his brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Iris McVean; his three sisters and brother-in-law Ev and Brian Bjarnason, Kay Schettler and Elaine Goodridge; and other extended family members. Don was predeceased by his wife Pat McVean; and his brother-in-law Gordon Schettler.
