Obituary of Graham Ellis McFetridge
Graham “Ellis” McFetridge passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, July 9, 2007 at the age of 67 years after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ellis was born in Chaswood, Nova Scotia and spent his youth there before enlisting in the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 18 years. Ellis and Karen were married in 1965 and spent the next forty-two years together raising their girls, taking care of each other and thoroughly enjoying their three grandchildren they had so patiently waited for. Ellis was a great family man and it was him to whom his daughters looked for guidance and comfort during many events in their lives. Ellis enjoyed a fulfilling career in the Canadian Armed Forces, and after twenty-six years of service, he retired in 1984. In his spare time Ellis loved calming activities like golf and oil painting, and while always up for a game of cards at family gatherings, had been known to skydive and bungee jump as well. His pride and joy though were his girls and his three grandchildren. Ellis cherished all of the time he spent with them. The family takes great comfort in knowing Ellis is now at peace and will always be with us to continue, to guide and console us in our times of need.
Ellis will be lovingly remembered by his wife Karen, daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Trevor Gosselin and Kandy and Phillip Donais and by his three grandchildren, Tavish, Katelyn and Claire. Ellis also leaves to mourn his siblings, George, Lillian, Joyce, Carol, Bob and Audrey. He was predeceased by his parents John and Marcia as well as his brother Ernie. Ellis will also be lovingly remembered by many other family members and friends.
A private service was held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 with Ellis’s close family in attendance. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
