Obituary of Marjorie Joyce Johnson
Marjorie Joyce Johnson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in the CICU at the Foothills Medial Centre, after a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease, at the age of 85 years.
Born in Birmingham, England, on April 9, 1922, she came to Canada as a WWII bride in 1945, residing in Calgary. Marjorie was an avid collector of Shoppers Optimum and Airmiles points and loved the lottery and scratch tickets. She had a wonderful sense of humour and it lives on with her children. Mom, we want you to know that we will continue to play your lucky numbers…may we win again! All who knew Marjorie will remember her as a loving, caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a dedicated woman who worked for the Albertan and Calgary Sun newspapers and she will be most remembered for her loyalty, compassion and strength.
Marjorie will be greatly missed by her husband of sixty-three years, John Oscar Johnson; brother Eric Chance; her loving children, John, Janice (Dave), Beverley (Leo), Bruce (Robert) and Patricia (Wayne). She will also be remembered by twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Marjorie was predeceased by her loving parents Sidney James and Lily Matilda; grandson Darcy; and son-in-law Dennis.
