Cecilia O’Connor

Obituary of Cecilia Marion O’Connor

Cecilia O’Connor, left us peacefully to join her loving Paddy on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, five days after celebrating her 90th birthday. Cecilia was born in Dublin, Ireland on June 21, 1917, the last of six children. Her youth was filled with family, music, and the beauty of Ireland. She married Paddy in 1946 and they courageously uprooted and traveled to Canada in 1957. She worked and volunteered for many years at the Holy Cross Hospital and the Rockyview General Hospital. Cecilia and Paddy loved their home in Haysboro and later moved to Hays Farm Apartments where Cecilia continued to live after Paddy’s passing in 2001 at the age of 92. She loved her walks, the Calgary Flames and most importantly, family celebrations filled with laughter and love. She moved to Trinity Lodge in July, 2006 and enjoyed all it had to offer. She entered the Sarcee Hospice in February in the loving care of the many “angels” there until her passing. We will always remember Mom for finding the good in everyone and the kettle always on for tea. Cecilia leaves the strength of her love and faith with her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cecilia O’Connor, Kathy and Fred Helfrick, Patricia and Robert Hawkes; the grandchildren that she adored, Graham, Michael, Sarah, Lisa, William and Elliot; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
