Obituary of Eric Lawrence

Eric Lawrence, beloved husband of Susanne of Calgary, passed away on June 14, 2007 at the age of 73 years. Eric and Susanne were married in Fredericton in 1958 and lived their life together starting in Ottawa, then Regina and the last 40 years in Calgary. Eric was a “New Brunswicker” having grown up in Dumfries, NB. After high school he spent two years at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College in Truro, NS. Then he continued and earned a degree in Agriculture, specializing in Horticulture, from Macdonald College of Mc Gill University at St Anne de Belleville, PQ. Eric’s life work stemmed from his love of gardens, trees and parks. He applied his love of all things in Horticulture first at the NCC in Ottawa, then with the Wascana Centre Authority in Regina and finally with the Calgary Parks Department. In his retirement he spent many delightful years with his garden, trees and shrubs on the family acreage in West Bragg Creek, where success in gardening was often determined by how readily one could out guess the hungry wildlife. Eric is survived by his wife Susanne; his two sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren, Stephen and his wife and daughter and Andrew and Rosemary and son Isaac; his daughter-in-law Monique and her son Matthew. Eric is also survived by his sister Carolyn Bagley and his sister-in-law Doreen Lawrence. Eric was predeceased by his parents, Violet and Norman Lawrence; his brothers Byron and Weldon all of New Brunswick; and by his beloved son Tom of Calgary, in 2000. A Celebration of Eric’s life will be held at Woodcliffe United Church, 5010 Spruce Dr. SW on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
