Obituary of Leo Duncan Kirwan

Leo Duncan Kirwan passed away at home, on Wednesday June 13, 2007, after a brave struggle with pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his caring wife Joan; five children, Jessica (Dennis), Michael (Vicki), Celia (Greg), Linda (Rob), Nora (John); eleven grandchildren; brother Patrick; sisters, Bernadette and Lillian; as well as several nieces and nephews. Leo was born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Deeply influenced by his years at St. Francis Xavier University, he was a man of deep moral principles. Leo’s keen mind, ready wit and sage advice will be greatly missed. He was also a great teller of stories. He was his own man. Leo studied geology at Queens and McGill and then spent his working life with Gunnar Mines, Esso Minerals and Echo Bay Mines. In retirement, his joy was golf. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Monday June 18, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
