Obituary of Maureen Campbell
Maureen passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at the age of 75 years.
Maureen was predeceased by her precious mother Leola Borwick in 2003 and her father Charley Borwick in 1972.
Maureen will live on forever in the hearts of her son Jeff (LeeAnn); her only grandchild Josh and his mother Bev Campbell. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers Don Borwick (Dorothy) and Ian Borwick (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.
Maureen was born and raised in the Orkney district and completed her high school and achieved top academic standings at Drumheller High. During her high school years (1946-49) she lived in a dormitory where she made many life long friends. For several years Maureen lived with her family in Drumheller, Hanna, Coronation, Calgary and Orkney. In 1960 Maureen and her family moved to a farm in the Caroline area where they raised prize winning Suffolk and Hampshire sheep. In 1985 she moved to Calgary to be near her family. For the past eight years she lived at Carroll Place where she faithfully cared for her mother until Grannie’s passing. Maureen was an avid sports fan. She was especially interested in any game that her son or grandson played. She was a devoted football fan while her grandson Josh played for the Dino’s University of Calgary team. Grandma was always the first person in the stands, even for the warm-ups.
Maureen has requested a private family service. This will be followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Caroline Legion, on Sunday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial tributes may be made directly to Helping Youth Through Educational Scholarships ‘HYTES’ a charitable organization that provides educational scholarships to youth in developing countries. Because of Josh’s involvement, education in Africa was a priority for Maureen, in particular her sponsorship of Moses, a young man in Kampala, Uganda.
