Obituary of Morris Taylor
Morris Hayward Taylor, beloved husband of Helen Hannah Taylor of Calgary, passed away on June 11, 2007 at the age of 83 years.
Morris was born on March 31, 1924 in Eastend, SK. and received his education at Claydon,SK. In 1943 he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served as an MP in the Medical Corp at Camp Borden. After his discharge in the spring of 1946, Morris began working at the mines in Natal, BC and on December 21,1946 was married to Helen. Morris then began his career as a grain buyer working in the areas of Vulcan, Legend, Foremost and Coaldale, AB. Seeking a new career path, Morris worked in Welding Supplies and Sales in Calgary until his retirement in 1989. For 60 years Morris was an active member of Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a dedicated member of the Elks and served as Exhaulted Ruler in Foremost. Morris enjoyed travelling, especially to Yellowstone National Park which was his favourite holiday destination. He also loved all music, especially the songs of Lawrence Welk. Family was of utmost importance to Morris. He cherished his wife, children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Besides his loving wife Helen Taylor, Morris is also survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law Clifford and Marilyn Taylor of Stony Plain, AB, and Arthur and Dawn Taylor of Okotoks, AB; his daughter and son-in-law Catherine and Steve Olsen of Darwell, AB; his eight grandchildren, Trevor and Teresa Olsen, Wade, Tanis and Kerrie Taylor, and Kristin, Kurtis and Jesse Taylor; his four great grandchildren, Matthew Toner, Carmen Wiggins, and Kyshia and Sterling Olsen. He is also survived by his brother Morley Taylor, sisters; Mildred Brinker and Marie Chapman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Morris was predeceased by brothers, Jim and Bill Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
