Obituary of Dorothy Patten

(Mary) Dorothy Patten passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the age of 84 years, surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy was born in Calgary on May 24, 1923 and graduated from St. Mary’s high school. She worked for Kraft Foods as a comptometer operator for many years. In 1947, Dorothy married Walter Charles Patten, and together they raised their beloved son, Thomas. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by all those who were fortunate to know her as a warm, loving, generous, and kind woman. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed for her feisty spirit, positive outlook, wise advice and caring listening abilities. Dorothy was an avid reader, dessert connoisseur, loved to travel (Scotland, England, Australia, U.S.A.), and was a crackerjack bridge player, despite struggling with rheumatoid arthritis for thirty years. She was very proud of her family’s accomplishments and always showed great interest in their lives. Dorothy will live on in the hearts of her son Thomas and daughter-in-law May; granddaughters, San (Dave), Noël and Nicole; close cousins Susan, Sarah and Ahna; as well as her many devoted friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ellen Lynch and Thomas Spalding; and husband Walter. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 for close friends and family.
