Obituary of William Edward Dorin

William Edward (Ed) Dorin, beloved husband of fifty-nine years of Irene Dorin of Calgary, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Ed was born on November 4, 1914 in Holden, AB and resided there until he left the farm to take a job driving a six horse hitch. Ed served overseas during WWII and upon his return he moved to Dawson Creek where he and his brother-in-law began a school bus business. While there, he was the first person in Alberta to obtain his Acetelyne Welding Certificate and accredited with ticket #1. Ed also met the love of his life, Irene Walline, in Dawson Creek and married her on December 20, 1947. They moved to Calgary in 1950. Ed was in the body shop industry for many years as well as foreman for various body shops. He retired as warehouse manager from Wilson Stationery in 1983. Ed was a great horseman and enjoyed going to many rodeos. He also loved Sunday drives, picnics and especially gardening. Ed was a great dancer and enjoyed attending many dances throughout his life. Besides his loving wife Irene, Ed is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Linda Dorin of Blackie, AB; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharyl and Larry Madigan of Calgary, Karen and Jim Sutton of Okotoks; five grandchildren, Cody Dorin of Okotoks, Troy (Rhonda) Dorin of Okotoks, Kim (Travis) Ducherer of North Battleford, Candice Sutton of Okotoks, and Mac Sutton of Okotoks; and three great-grandchildren, Talon Dorin, Cashton Dorin and Taylor Ducherer. He is also survived by a brother, Albert and Sally Dorin of Calgary; and sister Emma Gilbertson of Wetaskiwin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Freda Dorin; two brothers, Fred and Emile; and a sister Mae. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
