Obituary of Gladys Shuler

Gladys, cherished wife and beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Her legacy is left and remembered through her numerous acts of loving kindness to her family, friends and community. The “Ultimate Mother”, she cared for family and friends as well as her aging parents with un-ending love and devotion. Gladys faced almost sixty years of health concerns and illness with courage, determination and optimism. She was truly a “Woman of Valor” who will finally have her eternal rest. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and care-givers who gave her the best of care over the years. Special appreciation to her home care nurse Margarite Robinson, the compassionate staff and volunteers at the Sarcee Hospice and her family physician, Dr. William Hall. Gladys will be remembered by her loving husband and best friend of fifty-eight years, Mackie Shuler, her daughter Sandy Shuler (Doug Foulkes), her grandchildren Josh, Brent and Ross Goldenberg and her sister Shirley Sheppard. She was predeceased by her parents Rose and Fred Swartz of Blessed Memory. Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue, (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Followed by interment at Erlton Cemetary, (30 Avenue & Erlton Street S.W.). Shiva will be observed starting Monday at the evening prayer service from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue.
