Obituary of Marcel Bonin Baptiste

Marcel Bonin (Nun) was called home suddenly by the Creator on the beautiful evening of Monday, April 30, 2007, at the age of 44 years. Marcel was born on May 24, 1962 in Calgary and educated at Morley. He was employed with the Bearspaw Housing Department and also enjoyed working as a security guard. He loved being outdoors, hunting and playing guitar. He had a strong belief in the traditional culture. Marcel participated in making three movies; Dream Keeper, The Real Eve and Out In L.A. Marcel is survived by his beloved wife of eleven years, Ora Baptiste; mother Irene; children, Clarissa, Bonnie, Savannah, Larrisa, Marcel Jr., James and Marcus; adopted children, Nathan Chief Calf, Preston Shortneck, Tisah Rollinmud, Kathy Salter, Deanna Goodstoney, Elana Holloway, and Toni Holloway Baptiste; his five grandchildren; brothers, Harvey (Cecilia), Henry, Hank, (Joyleen), Elston, Preston, one adopted brother Allister Twoyoungmen; sisters Debbie Baptiste and Kathy; aunties, Georgie (Mac) Chiniquay, Violet Rider, Carol (Bud) Crawler, Elsie (Eddie) Holloway, Helen (Walter) Chiniquay, Mary and Eva Baptiste, Maxine, Helene Chiniquay, Phyllis Ear, and Cassie and Elva Lefthand; uncles Norman (Debbie) Baptiste and Martin (Vera); grandma Tina Holloway; cousins, Shirley (Clarence), Linda (Randy), Debbie (Terry), Henry (Kathy), Keon (Pam), Rosie (Lenard), Oral (Joy), Steward Dixon, Claude Lefthand, Vivian, Wyatt (Loretta), Joe (Cassandra) and Jason; father-in-law Horace Holloway; sisters-in-law, Maxine, Marlene, Cecilia (Jay), Jeanette, Caroline, Felicia and Brenda Salter; brothers-in-law, Glen (Brenda), Perry (Leanne) and Keith (Jubileen) Cecil. Marcel is also survived by his numerous cousins, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and other close and extended relatives of the Rider, Baptiste, Holloway, Chiniquay, Ear, Daniels, Dixon, Lefthand and Poucette families. Marcel was pre-deceased by his son Christopher Stevens; father Sam Baptiste; brothers Samuel and Aubrey Baptiste; nephew Brandon (Chief) Baptiste; uncles Enoch, Jimmy, Alex Jr., Ray, and Genrich Baptiste; aunt Rhonda Holloway; maternal grandparents Sarah and Isiah Rider; and paternal grandparents Alex and Lilly Baptiste; and cousins Tommy, Jimmy, and Teresa Chiniquay. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Ora Baptiste (Morley, AB) today, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2007. Funeral Services will be celebrated at Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Morley, AB).
