Obituary of Della McIntosh

Della McIntosh passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Chinook Hospice at the age of 84 years following a brief illness. Della May Brown was born on August 20, 1922 in Simcoe County, ON near Midland. She was the eleventh of fourteen children. At seventeen she left the farm, eventually making her way to Toronto, where she worked in a munitions plant during World War II. Out of work at the end of the war, Della set her sights on the West and moved to Lethbridge in 1945. She began a new career with the Canadian Bank of Commerce, where she met her colleague and future husband Nicol. They were married in 1953 and were soon transferred to Beaverlodge where Janet was born in 1954. A move to Calgary followed in 1955 where they lived the rest of their lives. Della had a passion for gardening in summer and bowling in winter. She will be sorely missed by the Golden Rose Ladies group at Mountain View Bowlerama. Della is survived by her daughter Janet and son-in-law Steve Luchkow of Peace River, AB; granddaughter Ellen of Vancouver, BC; sister Elsie of Wiseton, SK; brothers Eldon and Carson of Ontario; as well as several nieces, nephews and family friends. She was predeceased by her husband Nicol in November 2006; her parents Johnston and Sarah; her brothers Jerry, Nelson, Scotty, Delbert, Charlie, Morgan, Tom and Sonny; and her sisters Betty and Ruth. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
