Obituary of James Spence
James (Jimmy) Patrick Spence passed away peacefully on Sunday April 29, 2007 in Calgary. He was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America, one of ten siblings born to George Edward Spence and Elma Muir-Spence. James is survived by his brothers Bruce Spence, Christopher (Peter) Spence, and John da Silva-Spence, his sisters-in-law; cousins, nephews, nieces, and Aunts, all residing in Calgary. He is also survived by his brothers and their families who are living in Ontario, David (Stewart) Spence, Derek Spence, Carl Spence, Robert Spence, Leslie Spence; brothers and relatives living in U.S.A., Suriname, Guyana, Barbados and Holland. James was predeceased by his brother Ronald Spence.
James gave us courage and hope; his determination and endurance inspired us all to try harder in life; and his sense of humour brought out the child in each of us. James will be remembered as an extraordinary human being.
A farewell service will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church located at 404 Northmount Pl. NW (Northmount Dr. and 4th street/NW), Calgary at 1:30 p.m.. A Reception at Corpus Christi Church Hall will be held following the Church service. All are welcomed. James has requested to have no flowers, instead donations of food and/or money may be made directly to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society, 5000 – 11 Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2Y5, Telephone: (403) 253-2059, www.calgaryfoodbank.ca.
