Obituary of Dorothy Jackson

Dorothy passed away quietly on April 24, 2007 at the age of 82 years, held in loving arms. Dorothy was born one mile from Mazenod, SK on January 30, 1925 to Henry and Louise Lucas. Dorothy completed high school at Luther College in Regina and went on to graduate as an RN from The Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. in 1947. Dorothy nursed at the Saskatoon Sanatorium and the Saskatoon City Hospital. She finished her career at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary. Dorothy was active with Riverview United Church and Kingsland Community. She also loved her time and friendship with Calgary New Comers and later Nu-Grads. Dorothy was a fierce competitor in bridge and bowling. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. Dorothy will be remembered as an especially devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The seeds of love she planted throughout her life will continue to grow and nurture many future generations. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Murray and Ken and Laurie; her daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Mike Maidens; her grandchildren, Alexandra (Taylor) Jackson, John, Lucas and Peter (Ruth) Maidens; her brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Iva Lucas; her ten nieces and nephews; and many devoted friends. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service will take place in Moose Jaw, SK at a later date.
