Gregory Soliterman

Obituary of Gregory Soliterman

On April 20, we lost Gregory, a husband, a father, a brother, a grandfather, a great grandfather, an uncle and a friend. Gregory was born in Russia and lived in St. Petersburg, where he mastered electrical engineering and worked as a Chief Electrical Designer of a large electrical assembly plant. Gregory and his wife Sofya came to Canada at the age of fifty-two, to join their son Ilya. He loved this country and contributed to its growth working as an electrical designer on major projects in Calgary, Fort McMurray and Saskatoon. Those who worked with him remember the extraordinary quality of his design, his work ethics and a total commitment to his projects. Greg loved outdoors and enjoyed his RV. He was an accomplished fisherman. Greg was the happiest when surrounded by the members of his family, especially his grandchildren and they loved him in return. Some of them could say their grandpa’s name before any other word. Gregory is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Sofya; son Ilya (Elisa); brother Leonid (Genya); grandchildren, Sonia, Johann (Salvador) Sanchez, Johnna (James) Flores, Ian, Sean and Toby; and great grandchildren Alyssa, Joaquin, Savanna and Jamea. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers in law, Isaac (Sophia) and Veniamin (Sonia); and many other relatives and friends in North America and overseas. Gregory, we will miss you so much. Greg’s family has requested a private service. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to Sofya Soliterman, E502, 500 Eau Claire Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB, T2P-3R8, or forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Gregory Soliterman, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
