Obituary of Paul Vaden Wybert

Paul Vaden Wybert (Val), beloved husband for fifty years of Claire Wybert of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills hospital on Friday, April 20, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Val was born Monday, August 9, 1920 in Jacksonville, Missouri, USA, and came with his parents to Wetaskiwin, Alberta in 1926, where he finished high school in 1938. He attended the old Normal School in Edmonton Alberta in 1939 going on to teach in one room country schools in Northern Alberta for thirteen years, before joining the Calgary Board of Education in 1960. In 1966 he completed a Bachelor of Education degree and went on to be the principal of five elementary schools with the CBE prior to retiring in 1984. During World War II, he served with the American Forces in the South Pacific and following his honourable discharge arrived back in Calgary in February of 1946. He spent some years with Seaboard Oil in the 1950’s before returning to his first love, teaching. During his retirement, Val enjoyed a variety of activities: keeping a spectacular vegetable garden, travelling, running a house-sitting business, as well as a bed and breakfast, and in the last years, playing crib at “The Club”. Besides his loving wife Claire, Val is also survived by their two daughters, Barbara Wybert-Thompson, and Donna-Lee Wybert, and her husband Roy Masrani and their three children, Vaden, Rhys and Teale. He is also survived by three daughters from a previous marriage, Angelee (Vince) Skywork, Sharon (Gordon) Bray, and Marsha Walsh; he leaves behind nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Linus in an oilfield accident in 1948 and by his parents Pearl and Charlie Wybert in 1962. His phenomenal memory, industrious nature and playful spirit will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends and acquaintances in the Calgary area Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle, N.W.) on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
