Obituary of Lorne Smallman

Lorne Dwight Smallman beloved husband of Judy Smallman of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the age of 43 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Lorne was born in O’Leary, PEI. He graduated in 1981 from Westisle Composite High School in Emsdale, PEI. Lorne then joined the Air force where he served his country for seventeen years. Upon his retirement in 1998 Lorne went to Mount Royal College where he studied Human Resources until a bout with cancer forced him to accept early retirement. He was an active member of the Central United Church and was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1991. Besides his loving wife Judy, Lorne is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey and Joshua; three stepsons, Christopher, Andrew and Curtis and a special niece Carla Easter. He will also be lovingly remembered by his eight brothers and seven sisters-in-law, Wallace and Margaret-Anne Smallman of O’Leary, PEI, Norman and Mary Smallman of Carp, ON, Donald and Janet Smallman of Alaska, PEI, Calvin and Heather Smallman of Fredericton, NB, John Jr. and Faye Smallman of Howlan, PEI, Stephen and Paula Smallman of Cape Wolfe, PEI, Melvin and Joanne Smallman of Smith falls, ON and Alton Smallman of Cape Wolfe, PEI; his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Allen Cooke of Cape Wolfe, PEI, Susan and Keir Easter of West Point, PEI and Myrna and Blair Bridges of Springfield West, PEI. Lorne is also survived by many nephews, nieces, many aunts and uncles and his grandmother Mrs. Josephine Mackenzie of Charlottetown, PEI. He was predeceased by his father, John Franklin Smallman Sr. in 2003 and by his mother Aylwyn Janette Smallman (nee Mackenzie) in 1986. A Celebration of Lorne’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 2:30p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
