Obituary of Rowena Ethel Paull

On Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Foothills Hospital, Rowena Paull went to be with her Lord and Saviour. Rowena (Bonnie) was born in Elgin, MB March 8, 1934. She received her Nurses Training at the Brandon General Hospital, graduating as an R.N. in 1955. Rowena worked as a nurse in several locations including Chilliwack, B.C, Oxbow, SK, Brandon, MB, and Swan River, MB. Eventually, she settled in Virden, MB where she was the Director of Nursing at the Virden Auxiliary Nursing Home for twelve years. Her sense of adventure and interest in missions took her to Hay River, NWT where she was the Director of Nursing at the Hay River Hospital. There, she thoroughly enjoyed ten years working with the Sub-Arctic Pentecostal Mission and experiencing northern life. Rowena moved to Calgary, AB where she spent her retirement years. Rowena will be remembered for her steadfast faith in God, and unwavering patience and hope when trials came her way. She enjoyed reading, current events, family visits, taking care of her plants and loved animals. Rowena had a keen sense of humour and could always see the lighter side of life. Rowena is survived by her daughters Rhonda Paull and Allison Paull (Calgary); two brothers, Glen McBurney (Gwen) of Campbell River, B.C, Ivan McBurney (Moyra) of Portage la Prairie, MB; sister Irene Chouinard of Sarnia, ON; and sister in law Margaret McBurney of Killarney, MB. Rowena was predeceased by her brother Bill McBurney in 2000. Funeral Services will be held at Souris Gospel Chapel, (61 – 2nd Avenue South), Souris, MB on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside to follow at Elgin Cemetery.
