Obituary of Dot Chapman

Doris Joyce Chapman (Dot) of Calgary passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Dot was born December 19, 1922 in Brighton, England and immigrated to Canada as a war bride on April 15, 1945 with her oldest daughter. She added two more daughters to her family and managed to raise them while working for Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas. She enjoyed a long career with the company, retiring in June, 1984. Dot was involved with the War Brides Association and was a member of the Kirby Centre. She was an avid knitter, enjoyed fishing, drives in the country and walking her dog. Dot is survived by three daughters, Donna Chapman and Rae Peters, Rosemarie and Ken Brown, all of Calgary and Judy and Lloyd Curtis of Woodbridge, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Chapman, Amy (Christian) Brown, Melissa (Marc) Wrubleski, Alysia (Jason) Brooks, Corey (Yoshiko) Charron, Jodi (Bart) Saletto and Kristine (Paul) Bailey as well as eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Arthur (Anne) Harris and a sister, Elsie Poulton, all of England. Dot was predeceased by her companion, Mel Reasoner in 1991 and two brothers, George and Jim Harris. “Thank you, and we love you Mum.” Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, #201, 222 – 58 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2S3 Telephone: (403) 290-0110.
