Obituary of Peter Groening
After a very brief battle with leukemia, Peter Groening beloved husband of June Groening of Calgary passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 10, 2007 at the age of 75 years.
Besides his loving wife June, Peter will also be sadly missed by his four daughters, Sharon Storm, Lucy Pilch, Darlene Ducharme and Patti Groening; his ten grandchildren, David, Michael and Candace Storm, Shawn, Ryan and Crystal Pilch, Mandi Ducharme and Dustin Gowanlock and Jennifer and Chelsey Groening; his five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kiera, Destiny-Raye, Seth and Jess. Peter will also be lovingly remembered by two sisters, Margaret Wiebe and Kay Neufeld (Henry) and by his brother Jake Groening. He will also be missed by his beloved and spoiled dog Penny. Peter was predeceased by his baby daughter Patsy, baby grandson Christopher, his parents Frank and Margaret and by numerous brothers and sisters.
Peter spent most of his life in Winnipeg and worked for many years at Harris Construction/Western Caissons/Pile Foundations. After Peter retired in 1993, they then moved to Calgary in 1994 and spent a lot of time at their trailer at Riverbend Campground.
Funeral services will be held in Calgary at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Internment to follow in Winnipeg at a later date.
