Obituary of Ena Reba Mark Baptiste
Ena passed away peacefully on Monday April 9, 2007, at her home with her family by her side, at the age of 75 years.
Ena leaves behind to mourn her loving family; her son Myron (Diane); her daughters, Florine (Gilbert), Sandra (Torin), Verna (Maurice) and Dixie (Tater); her adopted sons who she raised, Olin Rider and Alvin Young; adopted daughters, Eleanor (Mark) and Marci Brooks (Dave); her brothers, John (Georgie) Mark and Charile (Cassie) Mark; her sisters, Doreen Simeon and Florence Twoyoungmen; her adopted daughters, Mary, Teresa, Tina, Sadee, and Bernadette Baptiste; her adopted sons, Edgar, Roddy Sr., Wilmur, Gerald, Vernon and Mike; her brother-in-law Ernie Labelle; her sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Rena and Pauline Labelle; her twenty grandchildren; her thirty-eight great-grandchildren; as well as her relatives from Saskatchewan and Hobbema. Ena was predeceased by her loving parents Paul and Eunice Mark; her brothers, Wilfred Mark, Frank Powderface and infant brother Gerald Mark; her sister-in-law Lorna Mark; her husband Ronald Baptiste; her grandchildren, Cory, Jordena Baptiste, Trayson Mark and Fergus Mark; and her nephew Rod Mark.
Ena was a traditional person who respected and truly treasured her Stoney culture. She really believed in the traditional ways. Ena was a warm hearted person who dearly loved everybody that surrounded her. She loved Pow-Wows, Sundances, beadwork, family gatherings and especially camping out at the Calgary Stampede with her brothers tepee owners John and Charlie Mark. She was known for her kindness and always had a warm smile on her face. Ena had numerous relatives from Morley, Eden Valley, Bighorn, Saskatchewan and Hobbema.
Ena, you have raised us and taught us how to love and live. We thank you for everything to the day our great Creator had taken you home. We love you. We apologize for anyone we have missed as there are so many to mention. The family would like to thank the following people who helped us; Chiniki Chief and Council, Stoney Health Centre, Foothills Hospital Unit 42 and Canmore Hospital.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Ena Baptiste, Morley, AB, on Thursday April 12, 2007. Funeral Services will be held at Morley Gymnasium, Morley, AB, on Friday April 13, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery.
