Obituary of Claire Mauch

Claire Mauch, of Calgary, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Claire was born February 4, 1924 in Kettwig, Germany. She immigrated to Edmonton, AB in 1952 where she continued her career as a bookkeeper/secretary before starting her family. The family later moved to Montreal in 1967 for two short years and then onto Toronto in 1969. There she returned to the workforce part-time with Eaton’s, the Bank of Montreal and the C.I.B.C while continuing to enjoy her world travels and cultural activities with her husband Walter. Claire moved to Calgary in the 1980’s and soon began to enjoy retirement life with more frequent traveling, bowling and some new pursuits such as horseback riding, cross-country skiing and bridge. Her life long love of children led her to volunteer as a cuddle nanny at the Rockyview General Hospital. Claire’s love and appreciation of the arts included the Opera, Theatre and Classical music. Claire, a devoted and loving wife and mother is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Walter T. Mauch; her five children, Carola Turton of London, ON, Robert Mauch of Winnipeg, MB, Howard (Kay) Mauch of Houston, TX, Monica (Murray) Wade of Cochrane, AB and Judy (Murray) Graham of Chestermere, AB. Claire will be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Adam, Jesse, Joanna, Sheena, Lliam and Averyll.
