Obituary of Vratislav Hromas

Vratislav Hromas beloved husband of Marie Hromas of Calgary, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Walter was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in August 1932. In 1968 he immigrated to Winnipeg and in 1971 Walter moved to Calgary. He worked for Calgary Transit for many years. Walter loved the outdoors horse back riding and listening to old time music. He also enjoyed watching old movies particularly those with a western or military theme. Walter enjoyed socializing with his family and will always be remembered as a very regal and smart individual. He was strong willed and was never afraid to show his serious, funny, and friendly sides to all those he met. Walter is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ivana and Josef Schlagel of the Czech Republic and Marie and Steve Jensen of Calgary; his four grandchildren, Ivana, Petra, Lukas and Kaila. He is also remembered by his four brothers, one in Canada, one in Germany, one in the Czech Republic, and the Slovak Republic. Walter was predeceased by one brother. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
