Obituary of Anne Zatkovich
Anne Zatkovich of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the age of 99 years.
She was born Anna Furman in Sapinec, Slovakia on August 9, 1907 and married John Zatkovich in 1925. After immigrating to Canada they moved to Princeton in 1939. Anne loved her family and friends and spent much of her time baking breads and cooking her favourite dishes for them. She enjoyed her garden, going on picnics, walking, crocheting, playing cards and bowling. She was an active member of the PTA and participated in fall fairs. Later she worked in housekeeping and dietary at Princeton General Hospital. After her husband’s death in 1973 she lived in Kamloops and Grande Prairie before moving to Calgary.
Anne will be fondly remembered by her children and their spouses, son William and Sharon Zatkovich of Calgary, formerly of Grande Prairie; daughters, Helen and John Silovich of Williams Lake, Joyce Macdonald of Nelson and Betty Schley of Honolulu as well as her ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband in Princeton; and their infant son in Slovakia.
