Obituary of Florence Dymond

With love and thanksgiving for the life of our cherished Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the age of 95 years. Flo’s parents, Alfred and Florence Langston, took a vacation to England to visit family and while they were there, she was born on February 22, 1912 at Beckham Kent. They returned to the farm in Saskatchewan where she and her seven brothers and sisters were raised. She married Cliff Dymond in 1935 and the family moved to Alberta in 1943. At the age of 53 she decided to become a “career woman”, working at D’Alliards Ladies Wear until 1972 and then at Henry Birks and Sons, retiring in 1987. Flo’s greatest joy was her family, telling many stories of life on the farm during the depression. Growing begonias became her passion as well as politics, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and genealogy. In 1991, together with her sister Hilda, they gathered all the data they had accumulated over the years on the Langston/Streeton family and published a five hundred page history book with information dating back to 1435. Flo will be remembered by her sons and daughter-in law, Norman and Garth (Mary); her grandchildren, Robin (Dawn) Dymond, Pamela (Clinton) Reece, Caren Dymond (James Thomson), Lisa, Ryan, Tyler and Kyle Dymond and her great grandchildren, Declan, Rowan and Quinn Dymond, and C.J. and Camron Reece. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Margaret Langston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flo was predeceased by her husband in 1992 and her daughter-in-law Frances in 1997. A Celebration of Flo’s Life will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (903 – 75th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 1:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
